Amanda Noble has served as City Auditor for the City of Atlanta since June 2017. Ms. Noble has worked as a local government auditor for 25 years. Prior to moving south, Ms. Noble worked for 13 years in the Kansas City, Missouri, City Auditor’s Office. She is Atlanta’s second independent city auditor, reporting to an audit committee that includes 3 citizen members, as well as representatives of the Mayor and the City Council. She and her staff are charged with auditing the performance and finances of city programs, activities, and contractors.
Ms. Noble is an active member of the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA). She has served as a peer review coordinator, Peer Review Committee chair, board member, treasurer and president. She has participated on 15 peer review teams and has taught multiple peer review classes. Ms. Noble authored ALGA testimony to the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. She served as ALGA’s representative on the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council and is currently a member of ALGA’s advocacy committee.
Ms. Noble has an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in social work and a master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in public administration. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Ms. Noble has co-authored several articles for publication and is a frequent contributor to the Local Government Auditing Quarterly. She also contributed to the Institute of Internal Auditor publications, The Role of Auditing in Public Sector Governance (November 2006) and Honest, Competent Government: The Promise of Performance Auditing (November 2008). One of her audits is featured in Tools for Decision Making: A Practical Guide for Local Government (CQ Press 2002).
